Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence.  A woman with a black eye, with a body covered with bruises, maybe a broken arm, maybe a bloody face.

Horrible.  Unacceptable.  Obvious.

And the violence of words.  The abusive, belittling, demeaning showers of invectives.

Horrible.  Unacceptable.  Still obvious.

But what about the violence of disregard?  The pain caused by emptiness, withdrawal, neglect, constant selfishness?  Not so obvious.

Is it still Domestic Violence?

One Response to Domestic Violence

  1. When it hurts you, the other party knows this, and knowingly continues the hurtful behavior… it counts as domestic violence. No matter how non-obvious it may be.
